The Copper Buffalo Round is patterned after the iconic Indian Head nickel that gained its nickname from the American bison on the reverse side of the coin. Designed by James Earle Fraser and issued in 1913, Fraser’s Indian Head nickel design is regarded as among the best designs of any U.S. coins.
